It's Time to Bring Home the Cupcake!
Bring Home the Bacon Bread Cake Cupcake
I like bacon just as much as the next person and enjoy a slice of bread once in a while too. But there is nothing like cake--especially a cupcake!

Handheld Training for New Consultants

When I first started out as a consultant, I had no idea how much my services were worth. It was a brand new world and although I was confident in my expertise, I wasn't sure what clients would be willing to pay for them. As a result, I spent a good chunk of time underpricing myself, caving when the client questioned my fee structure, over promising, over delivering and getting seriously underpaid. It quickly led to frustration, taking on less work in order to keep my head above water and turning away what had the potential to be lucrative contacts.
I'm an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Consultant. I often say I didn't start consulting on EDI related matters because I was a consultant, I became a consultant because of my expertise on the subject. In 2020, as the world changed around us, I was approached again and again to advise on contracts for well-established consultants with zero or limited EDI experience. Eventually, I branched out on my own completely oblivious to profession but eager to learn more.

Unfortunately, the information I sought was not just sitting out there waiting for me to absorb. Instead, I had to figure it out as I went. Through multiple contracts, conversations with colleagues and, frankly, hit and miss negotiations, I learned the best methods to prepare proposals, budget my time, price my services and negotiate fair contracts.

Trade Secrets Are So Annoying (and so elitist)! Also, it's not rocket science

I'm not sure why this information isn't easily available. Or comes in the form of drawn out blogs based on extensive research and confusing formulas. At the end of the day, it's not rocket science. Perhaps it's some sort of trade secret (I hate those). In my opinion, if you have valuable expertise you should be afforded the opportunity to sell them. No one should be able to keep you on the outside and the information provided in my guides shouldn't be available to only a few.

While I encourage you to take into consideration the current economy, your local market and to take the time to meet with and learn from other consultants (if that's available to you) I also want you to have easy access to step-by-step instructions right at your finger tips.

Success as a consultant is waiting for you! Let me help you make that cupcake!
